Sustainability at IPVC 2024

EICC AND SUSTAINABILITY

IPVS is a keen advocate for nature’s perseverance, and we’re delighted to announce that this year’s conference venue, the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC), stands as a beacon of sustainability on the global stage. With a steadfast commitment to placing sustainability at the core of every event they host, EICC exemplifies excellence in eco-conscious practices. See some of their initiatives below and become a part of an event that leaves a positive impact on nature!

DESK TO DOOR

EICC supports sustainable travel to minimise carbon emissions and promote wellbeing. Try our new travel planner tool:bit.ly/TraveltoEICC
We’ve established partnerships with transport providers locally and nationally, making it easier for our clients to lower their environmental impact.

KNOW YOUR IMPACT

Event Impact Reports describe an event’s environmental, economic and social impacts – both positive and negative.
Using this data, clients can set environmentally focused targets for future events and strive to achieve greener and more sustainable goals.

GIVE SOMETHING BACK

The EICC is part of an innovative project in partnership with RSPB Scotland, to restore peatland in Caithness and Sutherland in the Scottish Highlands.
The EICC Climate Action Contribution supports peatland restoration to aid carbon mitigation and restore nature.

WASTE

Our local waste management partner provides 100% recycling, and NOTHING is sent to landfill. General waste is taken to a local facility where it the majority is recycled. Anything which can’t be recycled is turned into energy. Food waste goes to a local facility and, using aerobic digestion, it is turned into energy and biofertilizer. Waste oil from the kitchen is refined into Biodiesel. Glass waste is turned into aggregate or insulation wool.

ENERGY

EnergyEICC is powered using a 100% renewable energy tariff supplied by EDF energy which is backed by UK REGO (Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin).
It is produced from a blend of sources including hydro, wind, solar, biomass and landfill gas.

CATERING

Our catering partner, Leith’s, strive to be market leaders in sustainable food; delivering locally sourced, plant forward and in-season menus.
They work with our partners and suppliers to continually reduce emissions and food waste across our supply chain. We recently partnered with Swedish startup, Klimato, to calculate the carbon footprint of each dish served at our venue.

BE PART OF THE CHANGE AND JOIN THE CARBON EMISSIONS OFFSETTING PROGRAM!

As a participant at IPVC 2024, you have the choice to be part of the climate change by offsetting the CO2 emissions generated during your trip. By supporting a Clean CO2 project, you will also contribute to improve the social environment in the operating area.

How to carbon offset:

  1. Access the easy-to-use platform https://kenes-group.thrustcarbon.shop/
  2. Enter your plans, including travel method and distance, meetings and accommodation
  3. Calculate your carbon emissions and receive offsetting suggestions
  4. Choose a carbon offsetting project and make a contribution – All projects are verified by one of Gold Standard, Verified Carbon Standard, Woodland Carbon Code or American Carbon Registry
  5. Receive your Thrust Carbon confirmation, certifying your carbon-neutral status
